Creative Thinking Challenge #16

In the “Grow Creativity!” article, Candace Hackett Shively shares four aspects of creativity: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. This article had me hooked from the beginning:

The world needs creative thinkers, scientists, engineers, leaders, and contributing workers. yet research repeatedly shows creativity is schooled out of us.

The Creative Thinking Challenge prompts focus on areas in all of these aspects and use ideas inspired by many different sources.

I would love for you to participate …

  • even if you don’t think you are very creative
  • the point of these prompts is to get the creative juices flowing
  • even if that only means letting small ideas begin to trickle out

I find that I get lots of new ideas from looking at the things others have done … and I bet we all interpret the prompts in unique ways.

The best part is that you get to choose how you want to respond to this prompt. And there is no deadline. The next prompt will post on the 15th of the month.

(I post past prompts on the Creative Thinking tab at the top of my blog)

Creative Thinking Challenge Prompt: What would the title of your autobiography be?

I am excited to be participating in a Stanford Online course called A Crash Course in Creativity.

We had to submit our first assignment on Sunday and now are working on our second.

The first assignment has really stuck in my mind and even though I finished my assignment and submitted it, I am still thinking about it and have asked many people the question that started it off:

What would the title of your autobiography be?

Our assignment was to design a book cover with the title and subtitle, as well as to include a less than 200 word bio.

So how would you choose the answer the question about the title of your autobiography and how would you choose to express it?

Does it change depending on the day? month? year?

Why did you choose what you did?

I realize this could be a very personal subject but if you would like to share, I would love to see and appreciate your efforts!

I may share mine here on the blog in a few days!

Sometimes it is also fun to try and name the books that others would write …

What do you think my title should be?

What do you think your friend’s title should be?

What about one for your child or spouse?

The possibilities are endless!
