Creative Thinking Prompt #24

Wow! I began the Creative Thinking Prompts exactly one year ago today!

I admit that even I have not tried all the prompts so far but I do enjoy finding ideas and sharing them just in case ….

And you never know what is going to make a difference …

Or provide that extra little push …

Or that new way to look at an idea …

I know I keep going back to the same article as inspiration, but …

In the “Grow Creativity!” article, Candace Hackett Shively shares four aspects of creativity: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. This article had me hooked from the beginning:

The world needs creative thinkers, scientists, engineers, leaders, and contributing workers. yet research repeatedly shows creativity is schooled out of us.

The Creative Thinking Challenge prompts focus on areas in all of these aspects and use ideas inspired by many different sources.

I would love for you to participate …

  • …. even if you don’t think you are very creative
  • …. the point of these prompts is to get the creative juices flowing
  • …. even if that only means letting small ideas begin to trickle out

I find that I get lots of new ideas from looking at the things others have done … and I bet we all interpret the prompts in unique ways.

The best part is that you get to choose how you want to respond to this prompt. And there is no deadline. Prompts are posted on the 1st and 15th of each month!

(I post past prompts on the Creative Thinking tab at the top of my blog)

If you have an idea for a Creative Thinking Prompt, please let me know!

Creative Thinking Prompt: Let the Letters Lead …

Image from HillaryIsHappy blogDo you remember how you learned the alphabet?

You probably learned the song ….

Do you still sing that song to yourself at times?

I admit that I do when I am putting something in alphabetic order! :)

Alphabet letters are all around us!

I love the look of alphabet letters …

Especially in different fonts, colors, and styles!

(I even have a pinterest board called Ideas with Letters)

So you can probably guess that the letters of the alphabet play a role in this Creative Thinking Prompt!

Looking through a copy of Caffeine for the Creative Mind, I came across a title in the index that inspired my curiosity …

Where Is That “Q” I’ve Been Saving?

Are you wondering what I found when I turned to that page?

How well do you know your own personal workspace? You’re about to find out! Using a digital camera, tale a picture of each letter of the alphabet on things ONLY in your current space. Each letter MUST be from a different object. You can move objects to reveal lettering, or maybe even create lettering!

So the prompt this time is to read what I found on that page and create …

If you want to see that as a list of instructions to follow exactly, then do that …

If you want to interpret that idea in a way that is uniquely your own, then do that …

The goal is to get you to do some CREATIVE THINKING! :)

Even if you don’t think you are creative …
